CHAPTER 6
“Oh my god. Oh my god,” Steve whispered in shock, his hands white-knuckling the steering wheel.
“What? How do you know?”
“I just know! I can see her face.”
“Should we get out?”
Steve was silent for a moment. Mary just stood there, blades threatening. For the first time, Emily was frightened. Steve opened the door.
“Don’t!” Emily pleaded. Steve just nodded at her through the door opening.
“It’s gonna be okay, Emily.” Steve shut his door quietly.
Emily watched in horror as Steve rounded the side of the car, approaching Mary slowly. He h

“Your soul? But isn’t…IN you now? I’m confused,” Emily whispered worriedly.
“Well, yes, but the item I’m hoping to still find there has pieces of my soul in it. I haven’t had it for years and I really need it back.”
“But why now?”
“Well, I really wanted to take my partner in crime with me,” Steve said with a smile. “I’m so glad you’re coming with me, Em. I needed this.”
“Needed what?”
“I really needed to do this with you. I’ve been wanting to do this with someone who understood me and loved me f

Beep beep. The call disconnected. Emily just stared ahead, the phone still held up to her ear.
“What, what is it, Emily? Who was that?” Steve pressed, anxiety running through his veins. Emily wasn’t sure what to believe now. She took the phone away from her ear and looked at Steve.
“They told me not to trust you.”
Steve’s face went pale. The sight frightened Emily. “Don’t listen to them. Was it a female’s voice?”
“Yes. Why? Who was it, Steve?”
Steve grabbed Emily’s hand. “We need to get out of here. They found us.”

Suddenly, Emily felt uncomfortable. She wanted to talk to Steve.
“Can…can I speak to Steve please?” Emily shifted in her seat, looking down at her hands.
Mal closed his eyes and sighed. A moment passed, then Steve opened his eyes.
“Hey, baby. Are you okay? I just sent him out to help explain things a bit better,” Steve’s eyes vulnerable and worried. Emily sat there staring at Steve for a long moment, then finally found her voice.
“Is all of this real, Steve?”
Steve let his head drop to his chest, then brought it back up to look at Emily. “I wouldn’t lie to you, Em. I

Emily just stared at Steve in disbelief. Why was he doing this? She thought to herself. She honestly didn’t know what to say to that. Was he joking?
“What? What are you thinking right now? I’m sorry Em, I shouldn’t have said anything…” he trailed off. Emily could see that he was disturbed by this news and her reaction to it. But this was just…craziness.
“I just…don’t know what to say, I guess. I mean, you think you’re a demon? I don’t understand. I don’t think you’re a demon. It’s not like you’re a bad person, Steve,” Emi

Ghost Girl Meets an Ancient Egyptian
Chareden had a small museum about its history. One day, a large group of curators and archaeologists made a stop in Chareden and dropped off ancient artifacts at the museum. They were merely making a stop along their way to a much larger museum, and decided to take a break in Chareden and continue on the next day. The town’s residents were allowed to go and take a look at these artifacts. One of those ancient items was a stone Egyptian sarcophagus. It was carved with the decedent’s image, which strangely had been partially defaced. The decedent’s name had also been vandalized. Both flaws appeared to have been inf

Ghost Girl and the Evil Fairy
It was a beautiful day in the town of Chareden. Miriam Cassman was at the beach in the local Red Oak State Park. Not only was she swimming, but Miriam was also chatting and having a picnic with Bethany Bergman. Bethany was one of Miriam’s closest mortal friends. She was always an excellent listener, very understanding, and supportive. Bethany even knew of Miriam’s ability to see and speak to ghosts, and was completely okay with it, and thought it was neat. Unlike a certain couple of other “well-meaning” people, Bertha Sellers and Blake Stevens, whom jumped to conclusions and thought Miriam was schizophrenic.
In a town called Chareden, there lived a teen girl named Miriam Cassman. In her early childhood, Miriam contracted a high fever and came close to death. Ever since that close call, Miriam Cassman was able to see and speak to ghosts. She really liked this ability. Ghosts understood her better than most of her fellow mortals, and Miriam realized that a majority of ghosts aren’t scary at all, or at least don’t intend to be. Sure, certain ghosts are troublemakers. But then again, so are some mortals.
What Miriam was particularly glad about was that she met Keith Tuck, her second cousin who died in the Vietnam War. They had
